Co-writing can be a difficult endeavor especially states apart. Jennie and Drea talk honestly writing with another person and balancing personal lives with the dream.

D: I would describe the writing process as a fire burning in my soul. A deep desire to share a story and the act of bringing these characters to life is my source of self-care in a world and profession that can often be draining. With that being said, writing with another person helps maintain accountability.
J: I have to say that since 2012 when Drea and I first started our story on Tumblr I haven’t lost the passion of writing or writing for my characters. So, when we decided to write the story as a book and failed the first time when we basically sat it aside and focused on our real lives I was disappointed and I never could get War of Night off my mind. I was excited when I reached out to Drea and asked if she would like to try again and she admitted that she had had War of Night on her mind recently as well. With Drea writing together long distance is a breeze and we can talk open and honestly with each other all the time to get questions answered or details worked out. We never really notice the distance except for wishing we could hangout in person and have a huge dry erase board filled with our scribbles about the story like the old days. Haha
D: Hahahaha. I would agree with that! Sometimes life can interfere with writing leaving weeks between the last section, but plotting and seeing the story unfold is well worth the wait. I’d have to say that writing with Jennie takes me back years and we were easily able to pick up right where we left off. Since we each write for specific characters the process is much easier since we equally split input.
J: Our friendship and easygoing personalities have helped to make our writing process be smooth. We're also on the same level of creativity and our unique minds have brought unique aspects to our story. Since we write for different characters it allows us to explore different personalities or aspects we share with our characters, some of which can be very dark.
